We went to mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.

It’s the biggest church in the Americas…according to their propaganda….

The National Shrine is next to Catholic University - which is only a hop and skip away from the house we’re living at. I’m typically not impressed with the modern/current day artwork in Churches - I prefer the gothic majesty of Norte Dame in Paris or even the neo-classical/renissance leanings of St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome.

Still, this is a lovely church and a wonderful place to worship.

We had organ music and Mark really dgu the soprano cantoring the mass.

As for daily spiritual stuff….I do yoga every morning and pray/meditate by candlelight. When I get off the metro take the escaltor back up to the street - I try to work on breathing…and clearing my mind….because when I hit the newsroom - my calm thoughts scatter…ok - that’s not necessarily a good thing - but I am a heck lot more saner than a year ago - when I started up my Intro to NewsWriting in Chicago.
